About the workshop:

In a time of immense structural violence and devastation, this course seeks to understand how love is a guiding force to our collective liberation. We will look to poems that explore topics such as the ongoing genocide in Palestine and modern day legacies of colonialism and slavery.

Topics may include love, care, loss, grief, depression, and intergenerational trauma, as we will seek to connect liberation of the self and liberation of the world. We may be reading works from the following poets of color: Ocean Vuong, June Jordan, and Hala Alyan.

This workshop welcomes writers of all backgrounds, including those new to poetry. This workshop is intended for QTBIPOC Participants.

About the Instructor:
Katherine (they/them) is an artist and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. They have experience teaching high school, college, and adult learners. Katherine is a 2023 Brooklyn Poets Fellow and has received scholarships from Poets House, the Textile Arts Center, Hudson Valley Writers Center, and The Poetry Project.
